It seems that the functionality of the infotainment system is severely limited without it. For instance , I have to use Android Auto on my phone for navigation. Living in a rural area with poor cell coverage, this is problematic.
The connection should work - have you fully closed the Sonos App (slide off screen) and then reopened it… if your Mobile and (previously setup) speakers are connected to the same network (wired or wireless) the App should see the speakers even without an Internet connection… if doing the connection over WiFi (rather than having one device wired) then perhaps ensure the following..

Hello Advisor-Makayla. My problem has not been solved. I pushed the blue button and spoke with an OnStar representive several times. Each time I called, I was asked to go through the same process (re-send signal, turn off car and lock doors for 5 minutes & reatart, uninstall app, re-set radio to factory settings, re-insatall app and try again, etc., etc., etc.).
